How to Use Support Reactions in Staad Tools
Parse SUPPORT REACTIONS from a STAAD ANL file into a foundation table: node and load filters, 0–3 decimal rounding, and signed envelopes.
Support Reactions replaces Staad SupportReaction. The desktop program pulled Fx–Mz from nodes selected in STAAD.Pro. The browser tool reads the SUPPORT REACTIONS table in an ANL listing, then lets you filter nodes and an inclusive primary-load range.
What is extracted
- Every reaction row carries its own JOINT and LOAD. Later rows do not reuse the first detected node.
- Six components: Fx, Fy, Fz, Mx, My, Mz.
- Decimals accepts 0–3 and applies rounding to all six values before the envelope. Values outside 0–3 are rejected.
- Node filter and Load from / to are inclusive. Empty filters keep the full table.
- Signed envelope: maximum is the algebraically largest value (for example −81, not −120).
Workflow
- Print SUPPORT REACTIONS for the strength load list you will issue to foundations.
- Upload or paste the ANL table.
- Optionally restrict nodes (1 2 5 TO 12) and the load range.
- Set decimals (0 is the desktop default).
- Extract, review the max Mz metric as a sanity check, then download CSV for the base-plate or footing spreadsheet.
How to read the table
Each row is one node and one load. Station is unused for supports and may be blank. Confirm units from the ANL heading — this tool does not convert kN to kgf. The envelope on the metrics strip is signed, so a set of Fx values −100, −81, −120, −91 reports maximum −81 and minimum −120.
Common mistakes
- Empty Load from / to means the full printed list, not load 1 only.
- Zero decimals rounds −100.44 to −100 and 5.56 to 6. Raise decimals before Extract if you need the tenths.
- Do not mix this table with MBS column reactions. Use MBS Reactions for Metal Building Software output.
- The original Columns and Moment report toggles only affected an RDLC layout. CSV always includes all six components.
